Placing Lost
Wendy Dawn, the runner-up to Chequer Board in the third heat of the Easter Cup at Addington Raceway on Saturday night, was disqualified after an inquiry. It was found that Wendy Dawn, driven by J. G. Hampton, caused interference to Fielder (D. J. Townley) with three furlongs and a half to run. Master Alan was promoted to second, Raven Song to third and Grande Gamison to fourth. No action was taken against Hampton. J. A. Donaldson, the trainer of James, was fined £lO for being late in the birdcage for the Electric Handicap. After the third heat of the Easter Cup an inquiry was held into the running of Tobias. After evidence had been given by J. Butcher, the horse’s partowner and trainer, the club’s veterinary surgeon was instructed to examine Tobias. He found that the horse seemed unusually quiet but otherwise was normal. Further tests will be made in the next few days. An inquiry was held into the running of Johnny Gee in the fourth heat of the Trotting Championship. W. R. Butt, the horse’s trainer-driver, told the committee that Johnny Gee had lost form and was unable to keep up over the final stages of the race. He said that the horse would not start again at the meeting. He will be spelled. C. S. Hunter’s evidence on the running of French Pass in the same race was accepted.
