MAGNA CARTA, by C. Walter Hodges. (Oxford University Press 32 pp.), is an attractively Illustrated book suitable for 10 to 13-year-old children, describing the events leading up to the signing of the Magna Carta. Beginning with the Battle of Hastings, the author gives brief descriptions of the reigns of William I, Stephen and Matilda, Henry 11. Richard L King John and, finally, Henry 111, with special emphasis on the changing ways of maintaining law and order employed by these monarchs.
