Brighter Cars Safer
(Special Crtpdt. N.Z.P.A.) SYDNEY, March 14. Bright coloured cars—particularly red and yellow—are the safest to drive, according to a Melbourne psychologist, Mr Maurice Whitta. Addressing a La Trobe University seminar on “the modern car—a safe vehicle or a death trap?” He said these vehicles were the least likely to be hit in road accidents.
Mr Whitta said road accident surveys indicated that a large number of collisions occurred because a driver did not see the other car, as it was of a colour which blended Into the surroundings. He said bright-coloured cars were safer because they stood out, while two or threetone coloured cars were easier to see than vehicles of a single colour.
