Commodore To Retire

The commodore of the Port Line, Captain F. J. Lavers, who joined the Port Denison as an apprentice in 1920, will retire when his present ship, the Port Nicholson, arrives in the United Kingdom next month. The Port Nicholson is due to leave Bluff, her final port, this week.

Captain Lavers was appointed master in 1949 and his first command was the Port St. Join. He is a native of Plymouth, England, but has been living in Raumati for 17 years.
