NEW PUBLIC HALL

Little River Meeting

The Wairewa County Council will call a public meeting soon to discuss ways of financing a new public hall at Little River. The council was told that the Golden Kiwi board of control had advised that a subsidy for the project was payable if rates were levied for the purpose in at least two ridings. At its last meeting the hall committee agreed to raise the amount required by way of a separate rate struck over the Little River and Kinloch ridings. The committee has £5OOO in hand—the amount realised on a fire insurance policy covering the old hall, which was destroyed in 1965.
