SPRINT WIN

High Glee Lasts High Glee’s class carried her out on top in the Railway Handicap at Trentham on Saturday. The New Zealand and Australian record-holder for six furlongs was tiring in the lead in the final furlong, but her early brilliance over better ground down the chute had helped her to establish a winning break. Mr W. Crawford’s Byland mare reeled off Imin Bsec for six furlongs when she won the City Handicap at Trentham in January. She took nearly seven seconds longer to win Saturday’s race on a heavy tfack. High Glee has been entered for the Great Easter Handicap at the Canterbury Jockey Club’s autumn meeting, and she will be a big attraction at Riccarton if she is brought south.

The best of her rivals on Saturday were Prince Hagen and the veteran Home on the Range. Prince Hagen tried hard to match High Glee for early speed. He found this beyond him, but he showed dogged qualities to last for second a length ahead of Home on the Range.
