Police Inquiry On Striptease Show

"The Press” Special Service AUCKLAND, March 12.

Auckland vice squad detectives are investigating the standard of striptease shows at the Pink Panther Club in Queen street. Their action has come after allegations by the Auckland public relations officer (Mr M. L. Tronson) that the striptease of at least one of the club girls was “filthy and degrading.”

Mr Tronson, who is also a city councillor, sat through a session at the Pink Panther recently. Chief Superintendent F. 0. Scott, head of the Auckland district uniform police branch.

said: “The situation is being looked into.” The Auckland City Council

will prosecute the proprietors of the Pink Panther on a charge of selling food to the public without a licence. The decision to take this action was announced by Mr H. G. Beechey, chairman of the council’s works committee. He said the question of further proceedings against the club owners on allegations of running a place of enter-

tainment without a licence was also being investigated by the city solicitors. At a council meeting Mr Tronson alleged that the club was riding rough-shod over city by-laws and regulations.
