C.A.R.P.

Sir,—ln reply to “Facts First” I would like to make it quite clear that it is not the policy of this organisation to rush to the press with unsubstantiated facts. Every statement made by Christchurch C.A.R.P. has been investigated by a special inner committee before it is made public. The soap powder issue has been completely covered by Consumer Council and the soap powder brands that C.A.R.P. and supporters are resisting have been proved to have decreased in weight, at the same time increasing in price. Recommended substitutes contain 12oz more powder and cost 4d less. Surely you will agree that by informing the housewife of poor purchases we are helping her to economise.—Yours, etc., M. R. SMITH, Publicity Officer, C.A.R.P. March 10,1967.
