PLANES COLLIDE

26 Killed In Ohio (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) URBANA (Ohio), Mar. 10. In good visibility and with experienced pilots at the controls, a Trans World Airlines jet and a private plane apparently collided in flight yesterday killing 26 people.

The air control centre at Dayton, Ohio, next stop for the twin-engined T.W.A. DCS, said the planes were on a collision course when their blips disappeared from its radar screen.

An official said the centre informed the T.W.A. pilots of the collision course.

The jet carrying 21 passengers and a crew of four—and the beechcraft with only the pilot aboard burst into flames and broke apart The accident occurred in west-central Ohio, 22 miles east of Dayton and about 50 miles south of where another airliner crashed on Sunday night killing 38 persons.

School Tragedy.—Lightning struck an African school near Standerton yesterday killing the teacher and 10 schoolboys. Twelve other children were injured. Standerton, (Transvaal), March 10.
