German Roller Skaters

YVITH five world figure skating titles to his credit, the student architect, Karl-Heinz Losch, will command most of the spotlight when the three-man German roller skating team concludes its New Zealand tour with a performance in the Christchurch Roller Skating Club’s Rollerdrome tonight. With Losch will be Uta Keller and Dieter Fingerle, who won the world pairs

championship at Madrid in 1965 and retained their title last year at Essen. The Canterbury and Christchurch roller skating clubs will combine in a two-hour supporting programme. Losch first toured New Zealand in 1963 with a German team brought to the Dominion by the Amateur Roller Skating Association erf New Zealand. Born in Heilbronn in December, 1942, Losch began

skating at the age of six. In 1956 he won the German youth (under 18 years) championship and successfully defended that title in the two subsequent years. In 1958 he was second in the senior German championship, and in the same year, four weeks later, won the men’s world championship at Bologna, Italy. He won the title four years in succession, and again in 1966.
