HOSPITAL SPENDING
Minister Tells Of Cuts (N.Z. Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, March 8. Hospital boards and other Government agencies and departments were being instructed to cut down present and future expenditure, the Minister of Health (Mr McKay) said here today. He told the New Zealand Hospital Boards’ Association that because of current economic difficulties, those groups drawing all or the major part of their funds from Government resources were being instructed to take immediate steps to curtail expenditure. “All Government agencies are asked to examine carefully each item of expenditure to see where economies can be effected and Government funds conserved, and the hospital boards of New Zealand are asked to do the same in their maintenance and capital expenditure programmes.” A
