WOODVILLE TRIAL
Final Orders Brilliant “The Press” Special Service PALMERSTON NORTH. Final Orders, a candidate for the Tinakori Handicap at Trentham, ran one of the fastest gallops at Woodville on the course proper yesterday. He beat Royal Chase by six lengths. It was one of the best final trials for a long time. Patrida worked well over five furlongs in fast time. He will not start in the Plunket Nursery, but may run in the North Island Challenge Stakes. If he does J. F. Harris will ride him. Royal Chase began quickly and led Final Orders by three lengths over the early part of six furlongs. Final Orders gathered - him in at the turn then drew away to win by a wide margin with the rider, J. Garth, sitting still. The six furlongs took Imin 14 3-ssec, the last three in 37 4-ssec after a brilliant first two in 23 3-ssec.
Chapel Belle, which is well forward for the Plunket Nursery, had no trouble beating Baraboo over five furlongs. She took 51sec for the last half mile, the final three in 38sec.
Patrida worked with Ellinis and was at a weight disadvantage. He ran home in front in Imin IJsec, the last half-mile in 49 3-ssec. Patrida could hardly have been more impressive and he will not be disgraced if he runs in the Challenge Stakes.
Ellinis, although beaten, showed she will be a lightweight threat in the Plunket Nursery. No rider has been engaged for her. Marine was always going better than Caplin when they ran a mile. They were not at top speed and Marine ran the last six furlongs in Imin 22 l-ssec, the last three in 40 l-ssec. He should win the Ngaio High-weight.
