“FEROCIOUS BLACK BULLS 9

(N.Z.P. A. -Reuter—Copyright)

TOKYO. Japanese newspapers yesterday gave unsparing praise to the “perfect” performance displayed by the visiting New Zealand Universities Rugby team in trouncing the Ali-Doshi-sha University, 53-6, in Osaka, Western Japan, on Wednesday.

The heavier and stronger visitors ran roughshod over the Japanese ace team, which visited New Zealand last year, like “big tidal waves,” the “Daily Sports” commented.

The New Zealanders looked like a “crowd of ferocious black bulls” (they wore black uniforms) leaving the stripe-shirt Japanese almost unsighted in the

field, the “Sankei Shimbun,” another daily, said. The New Zealanders combining their fierce attacks and thoroughly guarded defence, supported by power and skill, stood unchallenged, thq “Sankei” said. An attempted tackle by two or three Japanese in unison left a powerful New Zealander unaffected, the daily pointed out. “Half-back Chris Laidlaw, moved round freely like a Ninja (a master of occult art), the sports daily said. The New Zealand Universities’ team has won all four games and will play five more against Japanese teams during the current tour.
