Coloured Smoke
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, March 9. Tinted clouds of smoke billowed from the Disabled Servicemen’s League building this morning as flames reached bags of red, green and orange dye used for making large coloured crayons. Firemen had the outbreak under control in 15 minutes and as they came out of the building their trousers and tunics were stained with dye. The factory makes seven million crayons annually and an official said other premises would have to be found for the industry. New machinery would cost thousands of pounds.
