ADELE BARRAR. March 8, 1967.
; Sir, —I have read with ■ amazement letters written by i wives and husbands protesting against the expulsion of unnecessary persons from maternity theatres at the time Of childbirth. Are today’s women so soft that they can not even do themselves the one job that God has given them v alone the privilege of doing? Surely to a woman happy and secure in her marriage approaching childbirth should bring not mental strain or stress, but a deep feeling of wonder, joy and pride that she and she alone is about to present to her husband the most precious gift of a child. I have had three difficult births and all the kindness, confidence, and reassurance that I needed were given me in full measure by .the doctors and nurses attending me. So let them do their job unhampered by unnecessary distractions. —Yours, etc., COMPETENT. March 9, 1967.
