Hotel Service

Sir,—l must protest about Mrs Berkeley’s criticism of New Zealand and New' Zealand’s hotels. I, too. am here from England for a few months. We were recently jn the Milford Sound Hotel .when landslides blocked the road out for four days. The management were magnificent. They gave us an evening party and a free launch trip; they organised films. Above all, they remained patient and courteous throughout what must have been a moat trying

period. (Incidentally, our cases, which were very heavy, were cheerfully carried to our room for us on request.) We have found New Zealand one of the friendliest, most welcoming countries we have ever been in. I am sure it will remain so, in spite of visitors who are as ready with their criticisms as Mrs Berkeley.— Yours, etc., ANOTHER ENGLISH VISITOR. March 9, 1967.
