One Million Fords

QN Monday, February 13, the one-millionth vehicle produced by the Ford Motor Company of Australia came off the line at the company’s Broadmeadows assembly plant The car was preceded off the line by the first vehicle produced by the company 42 years ago, a “T” model, now owned by Mr G. Cox, president of the Vintage Drivers’ Club of Victoria. The one millionth vehicle, a Falcon 500 saloon with an automatic transmission, has been purchased by a car hire firm.

Although it took 42 years to reach the first million vehicles, the company expects

that the second million will be built in eight years. Of the first million vehicles almost 300,000 were Falcons, which first went on the Australian market in 1960.
