Quezette, gained her fifth sue- J cessive win and caused the up- , set of the day at Caulfield on Saturday when she beat the South Australian colt, Manihi, in the Merson Cooper Stakes (six furlongs). Quezette, a two-year-old by Test Case out of Quorn Vale, started at 7/4 and finished a head in front of her stablemate. Begonia Belle (12/1) with the 10/9 on favourite, Manihi, one length and a half away third. It was Manihi’s first defeat in six starts, and his rider, the South Australian, J. Miller, received a hostile reception as I he returned to scale. ]
Most observers said Manihi, which showed tremendous pace in the early stages, would have won easily if he had not veered io the outside of the track at the home turn.
