HILTON CORP. IMPROVES
Interim Profit Ahead (N.Z, Press Assn.—Copyright) MELBOURNE, Feb. 24. Hilton Corporation Ltd., the hosiery, lingerie and yarn processing group, has continued to improve on the record profit earned last year after a further over-all increase in sales since June 30. Directors say in last night’s interim report that profits for the December half-year are ahead of the previous corresponding period. Sales Ahead They say trading in January and February has opened up “satisfactorily with sales exceeding those of the same period last year.” Ordinary interim dividend is held at 6 per cent. Last year this was followed by a final 9 per cent, making 15 per cent for the second successive year. Group sales in the December six months showed an “appreciable increase” over the corresponding period in 1965.
Viet, Laundry Int, 4\ p.c.
Victoria Laundry Company, Ltd., Wellington, has for the first time declared an interim dividend of 4% per cent, payable March 23, ex March 7. Last year, an annual divident of 15 per cent was paid. Directors, in their interim report, say sales have been maintained at a satisfactory figure but increased costs, including a wage order, will make some inroads into the final result for the current year.
