To Guard Pitch

(N.Z. Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH. To ensure that no damage is done to the pitch at Pukekura Park, New Plymouth, venue for the first test between Australia and New Zealand from March 3-7, all-night police patrols have begun at the park. Also, there will be patrols by officials of the Taranaki Cricket Association, and during the match a police dog will be added to the night patrols. A watchman will also be provided by the New Zealand Broadcasting Corporation to. make sure that equipment for broadcasting from the ground is not tampered with.
