BRICK STORE SOLD FOR £14,000

A modem brick store, to- i gether with parking space for 1 five cars on a section of 8.1 ' perches at Liverpool street was sold for £14,000 at public : auction yesterday. The sale was held on account of Field and Royds, Ltd., by Mr N. H. . McCrostie. The Government valuation is £BB5O. The opening bid was

£12,000, and there were four bids of £5OO. Although more than 40 persons were present the auctioneer, Mr L. B. Allan, did not receive a bid when he offered the late Mr D. A. Bum’s “Springs Lodge,” a town supply dairy farm and racing establishment, together with 90 acres and 3.8 perches at Cashmere road, Halswell. The sale was held by the National Mortgage and Agency Company of N.Z., Ltd. The homestead has a liv-ing-room, dining-room, three bedrooms, and two sunrooms.

Other improvements include a three-bedroomed cottage,

eight-bail cowshed, milkroom, feedshed for 72 cows, two steel barns, wooden hay bam,

tractor and implement shed.

stables, feedroom, 10 looseboxes, harness room, and calf shed. At present 60 cows are milked on the property. The Government valuation is £37,200. A weatherboard house at 66 Wiggins street, Sumner, was passed in at £2050. The sale was held by Ford and Hadfield, Ltd. The auctioneer was Mr D. Chapman. The house has five main

rooms, sunporch, bathroom, pantry, and laundry. There is also a new shed on the section of 22 perches. The Government valuation is £l9lO. Ford and Hadfield, Ltd., have sold two Sumner properties, one at 104 the Esplanade and the other at 99 Nayland street, by private treaty. The properties were passed in at £9200 when offered at auction.

Malvern Rates.—Up to noon yesterday 69 per cent of the Malvern County Council’s total rate levy of £88,356 had been paid, leaving £27,349 to come in before next Wednesday, when the 10 per cent penalty will apply.
