Final Count In Heathcote

The final count in the Heathcote County Council’s Cashmere riding by-election, completed yesterday, confirmed the election of Mir G. N. Bowron. Mr Bowron had 557 votes. The unsuccessful candidates were Messrs G. A. Knowles (347), A. F. Crothall (238), and C. L. Harwood (237). There were 72 declaration and 37 special votes, and six were informal.

The county clerk (Mr J. A. Geard) said that 30.5 percent of the 628 electors on the roll voted, and he regarded this as a good figure.
