End Of Cargo Service

The visit of the Northern Steam Ship Company’s 739-ton motor vessel Maranui to Lyttelton yesterday marked the end of the company’s cargo service between the east coast ports of the South island and Whangarei. The service has been ended because of the small amount of cargo offering and the long haul involved. The Maranui sailed for Whangarei late yesterday afternoon after loading general cargo.
