WILDING PARK

City Open To

Offer

Cr. P. J. Skellerup, chairman of the City Council parks and recreation committee, said yesterday that he was sure the council would be pleased to discuss with the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association the taking over of Wilding Park. If the park was given to the council, as had been suggested, there would be rentals to ensure that it was not a burden on the ratepayers, he said.

Cr. Skellerup was not enthusiastic about a suggestion that the council should build a covered swimming pool on a central city site. The council was heavily committed, he said, and it was doubtful whether provision could be made for a covered pool in time for the next Commonwealth Games, if Christchurch was the venue.
