Evacuation By Planes

INVERCARGILL, Jan. 26.

All available light aircraft from Milford, Te Anau and Queenstown were kept busy today ferrying tourists who have been stranded at Milford since Sunday night After all the tourists had been evacuated, the planes began picking up passengers at Te Anau for a scenic flight over Milford.

Among the first brought out were 28 Americans who were due out on Monday to visit Queenstown. They were so behind schedule that an overnight stay In Queenstown had to be cancelled. and they flew on to Monnt Cook today.

Four busloads of stranded tourists and trampers were also brought out. All private cars that wanted to come out from Milford today were able to get through.
