BY-ELECTION IN MARCH?

(N.Z. Press Association)

WELLINGTON, Jan. 25.

The likelihood of a byelection in March to fill the vacancy created by the death of Sir Euruera Tirikatene, M.P. for Southern Maori, was indicated today by the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake). He said the question of possible by-election dates was raised at this morning’s Cabinet meeting, but no decision was made.

Dates being considered ranged from early March into April, Mr Holyoake said. He preferred an early date.
