Slight Profit Fall For Henry Jones
(N Z. Press Association —Copyright) MELBOURNE, January 24. Henry Jones, Ltd., big food manufacturing group and fruit exporter, earned a lower profit of 1,619,200 dollars subject to audit, in the year to September 30.
This compares with a profit of 1,665,700 dollars in the previous year.
The company changed its name from Henry Jones Cooperative Ltd., in August. As reported, it lifted dividend from 10 to 12 per cent for the year to September 30. This was the first change in the company’s annual rate for 27 years. Today’s statement from the company says that the latest profit includes dividends from J. Wattle Canneries Ltd. of New Zealand, for the 10 months to July 31,1965. Henry Jones has a big interest in J. Wattle.
Last year’s profit statement pointed out that the 75,400 dol' lars of Wattie ordinary and preference dividends, although applicable to the 196465 year, were not declared until November 1965. This was too late for them to be included in Henry Jones’ 196465 result.
