A.P.M. Interim Profit Higher

(N.Z. Press Association —Coppripht) MELBOURNE, January 25. Australian Paper Manufacturers, Ltd., had another good increase in consolidated profit in the six months to December 31, after record sales in the period.

The interim dividend has been held at 3} per cent, payable April 28. In 1965-66, the interim was lifted from 3 1-3 per cent. A.P.M. is Australia’s biggest producer of kraft and sulphite wrapping papers, processing papers and box and carton boards. Consolidated profit In the latest half-year was 3,898,834 dollars. The tax provision for the full year to June 30, 1966, was down 813, 561 dollars to 2,148,211 dollars. Directors say the main reason for the decrease, was the investment allowance arising from the installation of new plant, particularly the new 9-million-dollar paper and paper-board machine at Spearwood, nine miles from Perth. Sales In the half-year to December 31, were 3 per cent

higher than in the same period of 1965. Thy were the highest yet achieved. The half-yearly report will be posted to shareholders at the end of this month.
