FORCES ON MALTA

U.K. Cuts To Go Ahead (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright ) LONDON, January 25. Britain has told Malta cuts in the British naval, air and military forces on the Mediterranean island must go ahead as planned. The Government's final word on the defence cuts — which has drawn bitter protests from the Maltese Government—was given by the Commonwealth Secretary, Mr Herbert Bowden, to the House of Commons yesterday. He said he had sent a personal message io the Maltese Prime Minister, Dr. Borg Oliver, confirming the decision.
