SOVIET VIEW

‘Stop The Bombing’ (N.Z. Press Assn. — Copyright) ROME, January 25. The Soviet President, Mr Nikolai Podgorny, said last night the road toward a peaceful solution of the Vietnam war could be opened only when the United States unconditionally stopped bombing North Vietnam. He pledged the Soviet Union to increase allotments of aid to North Vietnam and said the war menaced peace and blocked solution of “fundamental international problems” such as disarmament. Mr Podgony made his comment in a toast to President Giusieppe Saragat at a dinner on the first day of his State visit to Italy.
