Midget Car Racing
Sir, —Could you enlighten many followers of the sport on why some rules are adhered to and others are not? I refer to a midget car driver who was barred from competing for championship points because another leading contender protested that his motor was oversize. Do all other midget cars competing conform entirely with the rules in regard to their class even though they are lower down the points list? As the three-quarter midget cars are running their championship on the same basis, do they all totally conform with their rules? And if not, how is it they are allowed to compete? —Yours, etc., FAIR’S FAIR.
January 11, 1967. [Mr C. A. Treneary, district steward of the New Zealand Auto Cycle Union, replies: “All machines competing on licensed speedway tracks in New Zealand must comply with the specifications laid down by the New Zealand Auto Cycle Union, and if a competitor suspects that a
machine is not complying with these, an appeal can be lodged with the N.Z.A.C.U. steward of the meeting for an investigation, and subsequent action as covered by the N.Z.A.C.U. speedway competition rules, if a breach of specifications is ' substantiated.”]
