PELL MELL AT TRENTHAM

(From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON. Pell Mell, the star miler at the Auckland Cup meeting—he won the Christmas and George Adams Handicaps—is an interesting newcomer at Trentham.

He ran half a mile easily in 51 4-ssec yesterday, and was keen to quicken after a fairly leisurely start. W. J. Bromby, now of Cambridge, but a trainer at Trentham for many years, has brought Pell Mell south for the George Adams Handicap on Saturday. The Wingatui-trained Ma Jeune (E. J. Didham) dashed over half a mile in 49sec. She is one of the more recent arrivals from the south, her

programme being affected by an attack of boils. It is hoped that she will get a start on Saturday, and she will then race at the Canterbury Jockey Club’s meeting. Glocca Morral another member of A. E. Didham’s team, is also booked to race at Riccarton.

Tsunami covered half a mile- in Msec and Empyreus dashed over three furlongs in 39sec. Empyreus is to be ridden by W. D. Skelton in the Trentham Stakes. 8*
