PARKED CARS
Danger To Children A parked car is often more dangerous to young children than one which is moving. Several tragic reasons why youngsters should not be allowed to play around cars were quoted in an Australian publication. A three-year-old girl, playing in a station waggon with automatic window controls, put her head out the window and pressed the button which raised it. She was choked to death.
Another little girl released the brake on a car parked on a sloping driveway. It rolled across the street and struck a kerb. She was thrown out the door and fell under the wheels, where she was crushed. A small boy removed the petrol cap on a car parked in a driveway. Later while playing under the car, he struck two stones together, creating a spark which set off an explosion. He was disfigured by burns over his entire body.
