ASHLEY Two of the four senior A matches in the seventh round of the Ashley cricket competitions resulted in outright wins. The other matches resulted in first-innings wins. A splendid 163—the highest individual score of the season—was compHed by G. Gardiner for Carleton-Amberley, and D. McAllister had match figures of nine wickets for 49 runs. Bailey Memorial Cup competition was continued in the Ellesmere district. J. Meyer scored 85 not out for Weedons against. Lincoln; an innings characterised by strong driving. Points for the P. V. Bailey Memorial Cup are: Leeston 13, Irwell 12, Lincoln 8, Dunsandel 6, Southbridge 5 and Weedons Scores were: Dunsandel 132 (M. Frampton 32, L. Wason 17; M. Chamberlain 5/28, C. Taylor 3/26) tied ; with Leeston 132 (M. Barclay 40, P. Boal 22; A. Grayburn 3/33, M. Murray 2/29). Lincoln 207 for six declared (W. Scott 24, B. Kerr 27, W. Fiecken 32, E. Tweedy 49, T. McGlienghy 50; D. Chatterton 3/57) drew with Weedons 136 for five (J. Meyer 85 not out; A. Roidon 2/29). Irwell beat Southbridge by default.
