Smithfield Prices

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Jan. 15. Light supplies of New Zealand lamb met a good inquiry on Smithfield Market, London, this week, says the Meat Board. Prices for the main grade (prime 291 b to 361 b) were unchanged but new season’s light-weight lamb was easier. Old season’s heavier grades sold at improved prices. There was a fair inquiry for most commodities, with retail interest concentrated on increased supplies of homekilled and chilled meat. There were light pitchings of New Zealand mutton. The main grade of hogget (491 b to 561 b) was at 17d a pound and wethers, 16d a pound. Ewes and New Zealand quarter beef was not quoted.
