Minister To Be On Loan

A South Island Presbyterian church is to be served by a Congregational minister for the next two years. The Rev. J. Phillips, previously at .the Onehunga Congregational Church, will begin two years’ stated supply to the Waihao Downs Presbyterian Church, near Waimate, on February 2. The clerk of the Timaru Presbytery (the Rev. J. C. N. Allen) said that in effect Mr Phillips would be on loan to the Presbyterian Church. He would provide stated supply, and the parish would remain officially under an interim moderator.

The Rev. P. Threapleton, a Congregational minister who has been in Timaru for the last six years, will soon take charge of the united Methodist, Presbyterian, and Congregational church at Para, six miles from Adelaide. It is the only Protestant church, serving a population of 10,000. $
