CHATHAMS PETROL

Plan To Float Tank Ashore A big bulk-storage tank which is being built on the Lyttelton waterfront, near the fishing wharf, will be transported to the Chathams in the Holmburn about the end of January. The tank is being made by Sherlock and Cotton, Ltd., of Christchurch, to the order of Mobil Oil (N.Z.), Ltd. Completed it will weigh nine tons, have a diameter of 20ft and a height of 16ft 3in. It will have a capacity of 30,000 gallons and will be used to store petrol. A special steel sledge is bolted to the tank, so that it can be hauled to its siting pad by tractors after it has been floated ashore from the Holmburn.
