Crowd Of 8000

A crowd of 8000 attended the first night of the Canterbury Park Trotting Club’s New Year meeting at Addington Raceway on Saturday. The meeting was held in fine, cool weather, and the track was in good order. On-course betting was £86,807 10s, including £13,884 10s on the two doubles, compared with £108,028 last year. Off-course betting also declined. It was £82,547 ss, including £44,648 15s on the double, compared with £97,116 last year, when the club did not race against another night meeting.
