Deported Man Now Father

Mrs Dianne Persad, wife of a Fiji Indian who was deported from New Zealand last July, gave birth to a 71b daughter in a Christchurch maternity home last Tuesday.

Mrs Persad’s husband, Mr J. Persad, came to New Zealand in 1964 on a three-month work permit. The Minister of Immigration (Mr Shand) has said that he will review the circumstances of the case later next year. The baby will be named Suzanna Rudha.
