Wet Weather Danger
A survey by the Citizens Traffic Safety Board of
Chicago has found that a quarter of the accident on Chicago streets during 1963 resulted from motorists’ failure to adjust to bad weather driving situations. More than 33,000 out of 132,000 accidents in the city during 1963 could be attributed to rain, snow, and ice. In 6000 of these someone was injured and in 45 a person was killed. When snow was falling on the streets, accident rates increased from two to 10 times the rate for dry weather and dry streets.
