Chance For Hialea At Reefton Today

The Methven mare, Hialea, should cap four consecutive platings this season with a win in either the President’s Handicap or the Lewis Pass Handicap at the Reefton Trotting Club’s annual meeting today.

Hialea trotted a useful race for third behind Briganelli at Ashburton on Monday and in the weaker class she will encounter at Reefton she should be untroubled to win at least once. The promising three-year-old, Markalan, Bonny Strathair, Betty Brigade and Oh Johnny are others expected to race prominently. The President's Handicap is the first leg of the on-course double; the second is the T. A. Dellaca Memorial Handicap. a race for which Seafield Countess will be a dominating favourite. Flight Adorian, Queen Gypsy and Eden Star are others expected to race prominently. The T.A.B. double will be run on the Reefton Cup and the F. W. Archer Handicap.
