New Uses For Discs

'THE great success of disc brakes on vehicles has prompted their adoption for industrial machines where drum brakes have usually been employed in the past. The range of machines using disc brakes is now wider than most persons realise, and includes cranes, road-rollers, for the control of radar antennas,

and for stopping wheel dynamometers. Disc brakes are also being widely used overseas on boat trailers and caravans, and a feature of boattrailer brakes is the use of corrosion-resistant alloys and stainless steel to permit immersion in salt water at launching ramps without damage.
