Delays To New DC 8s
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 21. The delivery of Air New Zealand’s next two Douglas DCB’s, which will increase its jet fleet from two to four, may be delayed by up to two months because of delays in engine deliveries. Many engines have had to be diverted from civilian aircraft Production lines to meet military commitments in Vietnam.
Delays in the delivery of the DCB’s until September or October are most unwelcome to Air New Zealand, which lost one DCB in the crash at Auckland in July. It has had to discontinue its Singapore service and is held up on the start of a new North American service through Tahiti once a week.
