Big Shearing Tally

(N.Z. Press Association > INVERCARGILL, Dec. 20. Three shearers working in the shed of Mr Norman Shallard, Riversdale, today established what could be a national record tally of 1214 in nine hours. Almost all the shwjp were full-wool ewes. The gang consisted of F. Herbert, of Gore (414), T. Pom are (375) and M. Jacobs (425), both from the Chathams. The men worked in temperatures of up to 80 degrees in five runs, the first being two hours and the others of one and three-quarter hours.
