Honour From Sweden
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Dec. 21. Sir Ernest Marsden, the prominent New Zealand scientist, was today formally presented with the insignia of a Commander of the Royal Swedish Order of the North Star conferred on him by the King of Sweden in recognition of his enthusiastic contributions to the promotion of closer cultural and scientific relations between New Zealand and Sweden.
Because of Sir Ernest Marsden’s illness the presentation ceremony took place at his home at Lowry Bay. The Swedish Ambassador to New Zealand (Mr O. Kaijser) in presenting the decoration, recalled that it was to the day two years since Sir Ernest Marsden became the first president of the Sweden-New Zealand association. Sir Ernest Marsden is the first New Zealander to be appointed a Commander of the Swedish North Star Order. {
