Charitable Bequests

The sum of £5OO has been left to the Cashmere Presbyterian Church, and £250 to the Cashmere Methodist Church, under the will of Lilian Mary Bradbury, a widow, who died at Christchurch on November 25.

The bequests were made conditional on the predecease of Mrs Bradbury’s husband, David McLaren Bradbury, a nurseryman, who died on September 8 this year. The Mary Potter Hospice of Calvary Hospital has been left £4OO under the will of Teresa Sheehan, a widow, formerly of Lyttelton, who died at Christchurch on November 17. Mrs Sheehan has also left £lOO to the Convent of the Sisters of Mercy at Lyttelton, and £5O to the priest of St. Joseph’s parish, Lyttelton, for vestments.

After a small private bequest, the residue of Mrs Sheehan’s estate has been left in equal shares for the foreign mission work of the St. Columban’s Mission Society (Lower Hutt), the missionary sisters of the Society of St. Peter Claver (Island Bay), the St. Vincent de Paul Society (Lyttelton), and the Redemptorist Monastery (North Beach). Probate of both wills has been granted in the Supreme Court.
