Fund To Aid Family

A public subscription to assist the family of Mr G. Smith, a retired Lyttelton taxi driver, whose home at 49 Hawkhurst road was gutted on Saturday morning, was opened at the Lyttelton Borough Council Chambers yesterday morning. Mr Smith, who was working around the charred remains yesterday, said that his home had been insured. He has been given the use of a house in West Lyttelton until the New Year. He has six children, aged between three and 24 living at home.
