TRANSPORT NELSON

Half-Yearly Profit Up

Transport (Nelson) Holdings, Ltd., Nelson transport, road construction and farming group, improved its profit by £llll to £46,249 in the halfyear to September 30 compared with the same period last year, directors say in their interim report. The results however, include those of Marlborough Transport Ltd., taken over during the year. Total profit last year, was £105,748. Trading profit rose £8416 in the half-year but there was a reduced return from profits on the sale of assests, directors say. A larger proportion of annual repairs and maintenance was carried out in this period and these costs should not increase at the same rate for the second half of the year. The pattern of past profits earned by Marlborough Transport indicate that the bulk of this company’s contribution to the group’s profit will come in the second half of the year, directors say.
