NOTABLE WIN

■pROBABLY more than its run of championship successes in the last five or six years, Hagley Old Boys’ effort in beating East-Shir-ley recently was one of the club’s most important successes. Hagley—and earlier Technical Old Boys—-have long been well known for the strength of their opening bowlers and T. L. Jones has

brought even more strength this season. Against EastShirley, Jones, G. F. Harper and M. E. Sibley—the latter two long-established members of the team—bowled very tightly throughout the match. They were helped to no small degree by the steadiness of the fielding and this constant pressure gave the East-Shirley batsmen little respite.
