No Mobile Starts
The New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club is not prepared to start two lines of horses in races with a mobile start and as a result, the committee has decided not to have mobile starts under existing conditions, the president of the club (Mr R. W. Saunders) said yesterday.
The committee felt that such starts were unfair to the owner of the horse in the second line and to the betting public. “We applied to the Trotting Conference for five mobile starts next Easter, with one line only. Permission was not granted,” added Mr Saunders.
